Children continue to be interested in climbing on sofas, chairs and everything in their path. They are also interested in going up stairs, but they will need your hand and a railing to do so safely.
Their vocabulary continues to expand and they might proactively use the word “Mommy” to get your attention, or “thanks” to show gratitude. They also may have added the word “yes” to their vocabulary.
The development of fine motor skills allows them to draw using their entire arm, and use a fork in a basic way with some types of food.
At this age, children are natural helpers and enjoy performing simple tasks like cleaning, picking up toys, putting away dirty clothes or throwing something in the trash. Cooperation is also evident when dressing or undressing, as they participate much more by pulling or pushing their arms or legs, making this task easier for you.
Their understanding of object permanence has also continued to develop. At this age, children already know that objects exist even if they are are out of sight.
